The health of the bone is the
main factor in determining if an
implant can be placed. There are
numerous implant placement
systems on the market.
Although some systems proclaim teeth can be restored
the same day an implant is inserted, studies show
allowing 3-6 months to elapse to allow the implant
integrate into the bone yields the best results.
An abutment is attached to the
implant. It functions as an
artificial tooth which a crown will
be inserted over.
A crown is fabricated and
cemented over the abutment.
Unlike a dental bridge, implants
don't require other teeth to be
worked on to fit.
