Digital Imaging

Digital technology has significantly improved
diagnosis and treatment for dental patients.
Among the benefits:
SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION IN
RADIATION EXPOSURE- Whereas with
conventional films require different levels of
radiation exposure for different parts of the
mouth, digital x-rays can use the same lowest
dose possible for ALL parts of the mouth.
PATIENT COMFORT- Conventional films
can sometimes have sharp edges and cause
discomfort. The digital sensor is rounded and
more comfortable.
IMMEDIATE IMAGE DEVELOPMENT-
The images from digital x-rays develop
IMMEDIATELY on the computer screen,
unlike conventional films. This is especially an
advantage if additional x-rays are taken.
BETTER IMAGING AND DIAGNOSIS-
With the images appearing on computer there
are many tools to improve examining x-rays.
Magnification, contrasting, and sharpening are
among the features that can be used to help
reveal findings that would otherwise not be
picked up on conventional films.
ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND- The staff is
not exposed to fixer and developer solutions-
which can be harmful if not handled correctly-
and there are no concerns of these solutions
getting into our water and environment.

Digital X-Rays
Intra-oral camera survey
The intra-oral camera (IOC) survey is
a series of clinical images to examine
alongside the x-rays. A more complete
evaluation and record of the teeth can be
achieved. Patients generally understand
their condition better by being able to
visualize the clinical images. The
intra-oral camera is a valuable tool for
both diagnostic and treatment purposes.
